Lake Union Duck Dodge

Here in the Northwest it feels like we’re full swing into summer with multiple days of 70+ degree weather. Except we’re not, it’s only May. Let’s all hope this is a good sign for a warm summer to come.

My husband has a co-worker with a sail boat, and he has a slip in Lake Union just west of Gas Works Park. Every summer he races in the Duck Dodge .  This Tuesday we joined the masses of Seattle, and enjoyed the beautiful spring day on the Lake.

The Duck Dodge is a 40 year summer tradition in Seattle. Every Tuesday, hopeful boat captions take out their boats to race around the lake. There are weekly themes like prom night, Christmas in July, and toga night. The rules are very specific, like no hitting one-another. It’s a pretty fun event to be a part of. Especially since my job usually involves holding the drinks while the others do all the work.

Here are some pictures that I took with my phone from last night’s event.
